Freshly Printed Greens is a small, family-run shop crafting custom 3D-printed accessories for indoor gardens like Gardyn, AeroGarden, Alto, Click and Grow, etc. We design smart, sustainable tools — from reusable pods to light-blocking caps and trellises — all made to help your plants (and your setup) thrive.
Now with the marketing stuff out of the way I’ll explain it more in non-buzzword language :D.
I am Freshly Printed Greens. I got into Indoor Hydroponic Gardening when we were all looking for new hobbies during Covid. I started with an AeroGarden Bounty and fell in love. Within just a few short weeks I upgraded to the AeroGarden Farm 24XL (which is no longer made :() and from there I just kept trying out different gardens.
It was with my first Gardyn Home (version 3.0) that I had my first problem to solve: “it would be great if I could a cap that blocked more light” (I found that the Gardyn ones still let quite a bit of light into the tubes). Then I remembered I am a tinkerer with a 3D Printer so I started designing a cap that fit my needs. It wasn’t until the next year that I toyed with the idea of setting up an Etsy page to see if anyone else wanted my Caps.. and boy did you guys.
I was shocked when I had my first sale 2 days after listing my caps… and it just kept going :D. Am I a huge seller on Etsy? Nope, but I’m very tickled with where I am. I feel that I get to know lots of my customers and feel that I’m approachable to them. I love the ease and speed of being able to take an idea from first spark (or first request from a customer’s message) to product that is available to everyone that Etsy provides. I did try my own stand alone website, but found it tedious and they never could get the shipping rates right which meant some people got overcharged in shipping with I wasn’t cool with.
I am still tinkering with new ideas (I keep a box of prototypes that I’m working with) and will keep coming up with ideas as I get new gardens to play with. I’m a tinkerer – it’s what I like doing :D.
(Now just a clarification – I said above that I am Freshly Printed Greens and that’s true, but I’m not alone. I have my biggest cheerleader, my husband, right here with me helping me with tech, offering suggestions on tightening up designs where possible and being just an awesome partner. I also have my son who lends a hand putting things together if I get a little overwhelmed. He’s my go-to for “eek, I need to glue magnets in these 150 pieces by tomorrow :D”.)
